When you heard "apostate" who did you imagine?
by nbernat ini've always imagined a 60-year-old man with white hair who is really arrogant and grumpy with an evil look in his eyes, a very cold person who wanted to do nothing but ruin people's lives and was working for satan.
i never imagined i'd be one.... ...that or a 55-year-old woman with gray hair with glasses and a very rude look, and smarter-than-thou attitude.. you?.

Does this site only make you angrier?
by homeschool inhubby says this site is making me obsessed, in a way that's making me angrier and angrier about jw's.
it's been almost every single day that i read a thread that seriously gets under my skin or makes me sick about them.
he's right, there's a lot on here that will only fuel my fire and help me to go into an angry spiral instead of bettering my life and forgetting about all the stuff i hate about the witnesses.

I think you could save some money if you did it. But that would probably be offset by your wife divorcing you.

Witness 007,
I think you are the crackpot! All the people he has healed over the years can set you straight. Besides Benny explained how those prophecies are now "Old Light". And they did serve a purpose in that the "weaker" ones were weeded out.
I try to keep up with "New Light" by following Benny's twitter account. For those of you interested its at:

Does the WT Society trade/own stocks?
by ThomasCovenant inhi.
is there a way of showing a jw that the society deals in stocks and shares and therefore it is ok for individual jw's to do likewise?.

I think it’s safe to assume they don’t hide their money in a hole somewhere. The people in finance would always like to quote Luke 19:11-27. People just assume they don’t own stock. Trying to connect WT to the military through a contract with HSOA is weak. HSOA provides restoration services to homes damaged by floods, hurricanes, etc.
What would get my attention is if there is evidence the WT used Katrina donations to purchase goods and services through HSOA vs. getting the best price. Then you would really have something. -

Forget all of the stages: Denial, Anger, Sadness - Don't you sometimes just feel STUPID for having believed in the Organization?
by BonaFide ini know i have been through all those stages, i denied it, then i got angry, definitely sad.
months and months of this, and i still am in for my family and friends.. but sometimes i just feel stupid.
why did i ignore basic common sense for so long?
-

I feel stupid sometimes, but I try not to beat myself up over it.
Keep in mind you grew up in it. When I had doubts I pressed on less out of loyalty, but more so to prove my parents right and make them proud. No one wants their parents to be “wrong”.
But that which doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger right? You wasted some time but it wasn’t all a waste. You got to travel and live in a foreign land. That experience alone gives you more perspective than most people. I’m sure there are many other examples if you think about it. -

Challenge #6 (The Spirit IS Like Jesus) ~ GS / JBeD / Serious JWs
by 4examp inchallenge: do you agree that 10 greek words unite to show that the holy spirit ~ is (a person) ~ like jesus?.
the spirit, our 1helper/advocate/lawyer, is the 2holy, 3everlasting, 4eternal, 5lord, 6god, who is 7truth, & 8raised up christ, & 9makes alive; & we should be 10baptized in his name.. the wt claims: ~ "the scriptures themselves unite to show that god's holy spirit is not a person"(insight p.1019, & aid p.1543).. the scriptures themselves show just the opposite !.
10 greek words prove, that what is true of god the son (&/or god the father) is also true of god the holy spirit.

My experience at the District Convention today - Appreciate your comments
by BonaFide ini know i am the one to constantly harp on this board how the organization has lost its "swagger" and the baptism and attendance is going down, and people are waking up.. not so fast.. the audience cried, i mean a lot of people cried when they played some of the songs from the new songbook.
some had bethel singers who sounded pretty good singing them.
so many after the program were saying how touched they were.. then the new release of the book showing how the book of acts prefigures the organization today.

Bonafide,
Don’t bang your head against the wall too much, it’s a large organization. It’s not all on your head. Allot of people have been hurt by the Org but there are worst things in the world that need changing. Take some time for yourself. Do things you had always put off doing because this system was going to end.
You can always go hard-line Apostate but if you’re trying to change families or friends it probably won’t work. If you start throwing out stuff like COC books and words like “cult” it will probably turn them off to your ideas.
Or you can try to hit the grey areas. One idea is to maybe do some volunteer service in your community. Something innocuous like planting trees. I think Arbor Day is non-religious. Something like this would provoke allot questions and send Elders scurrying to their STF books. “Can JW’s plant trees?”, “Don’t we care about the environment?”, “Do we?”, “Brother Bonafide asked me to plant trees with him, should I?”. “Shouldn’t we be in field service instead?”, “But Dad watches football after the meetings, shouldn’t he be in field service instead?”, “Is planting trees really that bad?”.
Just an idea. Plus I’m just curious as to what would happen.

How long will the WTBTS survive?
by Megachusen ingive it your best educated guess.
how long do you guys think it has left?.
personally, i think it has about 10 years before the org's leadership disolves and the religion splinters into hundreds of adorable little jw-like cults..

They will always be around, though they will probably look allot different. Compare how they look today to 100yrs ago. They have to much money to just disappear in 10 years. Any splinter groups just won't have the money to survive.
If there ever was a splinter group my vote is that it will occur in Zambia.
